Items Needed For the Pantry

At the Monroe Food Pantry, we strive to consistently provide healthy food options for our clients. We accept and appreciate all donations, and encourage low sodium, low saturated fat, vegetarian, and whole wheat selections when possible. This helps our clients manage and prevent chronic diseases, such as diabetes and heart disease. 

This is a list of donations we regularly seek throughout the year:

  • Juice (apple, cranberry, etc)    
  • Mayonnaise, Mustard, Ketchup                                   
  • Canned Vegetables  
  • Grape Jelly, Strawberry Jam
  • Hamburger Helper, Knorr Pasta/Rice Sides, Macaroni & Cheese               
  • Egg Noodles  
  • Rice (brown or white)  
  • Hot & Cold Cereal                   
  • Bread Crumbs                                    
  • Canned Tomatoes (crushed, whole, diced, stewed, paste)   
  • Chicken, Beef, or Vegetable Broth  
  • Cooking Oil  
  • Canned Fruit (regular or low sugar - preferably in juice)  
  • Canned Beans, including baked & refried  
  • Baking Supplies - including sugar & flour  
  • Syrup (regular or sugar free)  
  • Pancake Mix  
  • Jarred Pasta Sauce  
  • Salad Dressing (any flavor)  
  • Ground Coffee, Tea (regular, decaf), Instant Coffee & Hot Chocolate
  • Canned Soup  
  • Ensure  
  • Snack Items
  • Personal hygiene products - including feminine hygiene products
  • Household cleaning supplies
  • Paper towels, toilet paper, tissues

Any monetary donations we receive are used to purchase fresh vegetables, milk, meat, frozen vegetables, eggs, and non-perishables needed to fill in our inventory.

Donations can be dropped off at the Monroe Food Pantry, located at 980 Monroe Turnpike. Please call 203-452-2817 to see if someone will be at the pantry to receive your donations, or simply deposit the items in the red donation bin on the left side of the building. Please do not leave monetary donations in the donation bin.
