Environmental Health Services focuses on promoting community health and well-being by fostering a safe and healthful environment through the enforcement of the Connecticut Public Health Code. We conduct inspections in facilities such as restaurants and hair salons, conduct soil testing and review plans for subsurface sewage disposal systems, and investigate complaints.
Child Lead Poisoning Prevention
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) created the Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule (RRP Rule) which requires companies performing renovation, repair, and painting projects that disturb lead-based paint in homes, child care facilities and pre-schools built before 1978 to have their company certified by EPA (or an EPA authorized state).
An RRP- certified contractor is someone who completes an EPA-approved training program focused on teaching proper and safe work practices when working with lead-based paint. Click here for more information.
