Lake Zoar Authority

The Lake Zoar Authority is a multi-town organization consisting of representatives from the four towns that border the lake – Monroe, Newtown, Oxford, and Southbury.

Per Town Code Chapter 100:

The Town of Monroe, acting in concert with any other town or towns having a portion of Lake Zoar within their territorial limits, hereby establishes a lake authority for said lake, to be known as the "Lake Zoar Authority."

The Lake Zoar Authority shall exercise all powers granted by the Connecticut General Statutes under § 7-151a for lake authorities, including, without limitation, powers relating to the enforcement of boating laws on said lake and such other powers as from time to time may be granted to said Authority by the legislative bodies of all member towns and the General Statutes.
